MICHAEL SPENT that evening collecting his thoughts and preparing to begin the empowerment journey with his organization.

He spent a good deal of time arranging and rearranging his notes into a coherent pattern that he could use to explain what he had learned.

Finally, he came up with something he called the Empowerment Game Plan. This game plan summarized the three keys to empowerment. He used arrows to show that you start with Share Accurate Information and then bring in Create Autonomy through Boundaries and Replace Hierarchical Thinking with Self-managed Teams to create a three-pronged approach to creating a culture of empowerment.
