Monitoring Data Mesh Costs and Building a Cross-Charging Model

In the previous chapter, we discussed two broad models of how a data mesh is monetized by companies through a central or distributed cost model. In either of these models, it’s important to be able to measure the cost of the data mesh broken down into individual data products. Irrespective of the cost distribution strategy that a company adopts, it will need to get the cost of each landing zone in order to ensure return on investment (ROI) and plan budgets at a granular level.
