Chapter 11. Threads and Fasteners
11-1 Introduction
This chapter explains how to draw threads, washers, keys, and springs. It explains how to use fasteners to join parts together and design uses for washers, keys, and springs.
Throughout the chapter, it will be suggested that blocks and wblocks be created of the various thread and fastener shapes. Thread representations, fastener head shapes, setscrews, and both internal and external thread representations for orthographic views and sectional views are so common in technical drawings that it is good practice to create a set of wblocks that can be used on future drawings in order to avoid having to redraw a thread shape every time it is needed.
See Chapter 3 for an explanation of the Block
