Thermosets
These set as a result of a build-up of molecular chains to give a rigid cross-
linked. Epoxy resins, such as Araldite, are one of the most widely used
thermoset adhesives. These are two-part adhesives, in that setting only starts
to occur when the two components of the adhesive are brought together. They
will bond almost anything and give strong bonds which are resistant to water,
oil and solvents.
Phenolic resins are another example of thermoset adhesives. Heat and
