above 425°C. Brazing can be used with aluminium and its alloys, nickel and
copper alloys, cast iron, steels, and many other less-used metals. Dissimilar
metals can be joined. The term 'braze' comes from the use of brass as the
substance used to make the joint.
A 50
per cent copper/50 per cent zinc is used
for general work, with a melting point of about 870°C. Other alloys, e.g. a
copper/silver alloy, are used.
The procedure for brazing

similar to that for soldering, but the end result
