Chapter 6Configurable Processors: A Hardware View

SOCs solve complex, data-intensive application problems—problems of performance, power-efficiency, and tight integration of diverse functions. Tuned processors provide a potent combination of performance and programmability for solving these problems, but the process of finding the right solution to these problems often looks different to software developers and hardware developers.
