15The AIDIMA Experience

This chapter describes the experience of AIDIMA during the BIVEE project and the activities performed regarding the definition of the pilot application cases, the configuration of the environment provided by business innovation in virtual enterprise environments (BIVEE) in the Production Space and the analysis of the impact produced in the furniture manufacturing sector represented by AIDIMA.

High-level descriptions of the validation scenarios, followed by an overview of the monitoring campaigns, are included in this chapter. Then, the activities related to the BIVEE setup of the furniture production environment for the monitoring campaigns and those issues that are detected during the preparation period are presented. To conclude, the analysis of the impact produced by BIVEE in the furniture manufacturing sector is explained in detail.

15.1. Introduction

The experience of BIVEE in the Production Space is represented by AIDIMA, which associates furniture manufacturing companies from Spain. The industrial scope represented by AIDIMA covers a wide range of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) from the sector, being many of them traditional companies with basic technological level implemented in its infrastructures. The pilot application case selected for the validation of the BIVEE environment tries to represent a generic Virtual Enterprise (VE) which meets the features of many production networks of the Spanish furniture sector.
