The world we live in is made up of elements, compounds, and mixtures. There is a select number of Chemical Compounds (called Organic Compounds) that make up the living parts of our world. These are the basic building blocks of life, and are shown in Figure 19-2. They fall into two major groups, as defined in the following sections.
