Figure 21-1 shows the architectural model for Facility, as understood by the oil industry. The basic sub-types in this world are Surface Facility and Sub-surface Facility. As the name suggests, a Surface Facility is implemented via a collection of equipment for doing the preliminary processing of crude oil and gas, once it is removed from the ground.

The primary sub-type shown here is a Manifold, although there are certainly many Other kinds of Facility, as well.
