Geographic Identifiers

As with Parties, there are numerous schemes for identifying Geographic Locations. To be sure, a Geographic Point can really only be identified by a combination of its attributes, Latitude, Longitude, and Elevation, although these can be described in multiple terms (Is latitude and longitude expressed in “minutes and seconds” or “decimal”? Is elevation in “feet” or “meters”?). To identify countries, ISO 3166 provides both two- and three-letter abbreviations. Alternatively, the International Telecommunications Union uses 2 and 3-digit identifiers for telephone number country codes.
