Assets, Asset Types, and Asset Specifications
Analogous to the treatment of Party and Geographic Location, in the Asset section of the model, each Asset is shown in Figure 6-2 to be an example of a single Asset Type. As in the other sections, the initial set of Asset Types reproduces the set of sub-types of Asset: Inventory, Discrete Item, Lot, and Building.
For example, in one gasoline station, you could have an Inventory with a Quantity of “300” gallons, described by an Asset Type with a Name of “gasoline”. Alternatively, in your office, you might have an Inventory with a Quantity of “4000”, described by an Asset Type with a Name of “#10 Envelopes”.
