Naming and Identifying Activities

Both the naming and the identification of activities depend completely on the organization. Within a manufacturing operation, the list of tasks is typically described by a single name and a single code. If this is the case, attributes Name and Code for both Activity Type and Activity might be appropriate. In the case where Activity Types represent services for sale, however, the structure shown in Figure 7-2 would be more appropriate. This permits an Activity or an Activity Type to be labeled by one or more Activity Names, depending on circumstances. Here, each Activity Name must be an example of exactly one Activity Name Type.
