Thing and Thing Type

Thing is a concept so fundamental that it almost defies definition. The third Merriam Webster on-line dictionary definition of Thing is first: “a: a separate and distinct individual quality, fact, idea, or usually entity”. This is close to what we want. The second definition is narrower than will be used here: “b: the concrete entity as distinguished from its appearances”.[41] For the purposes of this model, we are not limited to physical, tangible things.
