Thing and Thing Type

Thing is a concept so fundamental that it almost defies definition. The third Merriam Webster on-line dictionary definition of Thing is first: “a: a separate and distinct individual quality, fact, idea, or usually entity”. This is close to what we want. The second definition is narrower than will be used here: “b: the concrete entity as distinguished from its appearances”.[41] For the purposes of this model, we are not limited to physical, tangible things. (Physical) Assets are tangible. People and Organizations and Geographic Locations have physical aspects, but are not tangible in this sense. Activities are clearly not tangible at all.
