Information Resources

An Information Resource is any collection of concepts expressed in a form that can be communicated to others. Among other things, it can be the contents of a document as just described, it can be a photograph or a video recording, or it can be a piece of computer software. This is the knowledge managed by knowledge management efforts. Figure 10-1 shows Information Resource Definition (a set of articulated concepts) and Information Resource Instance (a representation of those concepts in a particular Medium).[(] The latter may be in a Physical Copy (for example, a paper copy) or in an Electronic Copy (sent by, for example, electronic mail).
