Many years back, when the second Avengers movie was released, I attended the midnight screening with several friends. As we waited in line for the theater to open its doors, I noticed a group of adolescent cosplayers at the head of the line. Their costumes were clearly amateurish, but you couldn’t help seeing their joy in representing characters from the film and the favorable responses from fellow fans as everyone waited to be some of the first to watch the movie.
