Considering all the legal and tax pitfalls described in this chapter, you may be tempted to ask whether Deborah, Dave, or any other entrepreneur would choose to go down the road of the startup if fully aware of the complications lying in wait. But not to be aware of these matters is to choose consciously to play the game without knowing the rules. These issues are there whether the entrepreneur prepares for them or not. Surely, Dave and Deborah are much more likely to succeed in their venture for having taken the time to become aware of the legal and tax issues facing the entrepreneur.
