Chapter 14

Faith-based investing

Abstract

A great deal of environmental, social, and governance investing has historically been done in accordance with faith-based investment criteria. Faith-based or religious values investing refers to investment activity designed specifically to be consistent with the moral and social teachings of that religion while providing financial returns to assure the continuing financial stability of the organization. This chapter looks at Catholic, Islamic, and Jewish faith-based investment principles and various financial products that are in compliance with them.
