Project Goals

This project will be a little different than the others in this book. Instead of creating a cross-browser design, we’ll be pushing hard at one of the capabilities that CSS has to offer—even though the majority of browsers available (as of this writing) will fail to display the design correctly. In a sense, this is a look forward to what should be possible when browsers finally implement all of CSS1.

This is not to say that the techniques explored in this project are useless. It might be necessary to work around the limitations of some browsers, but a clever designer can do this without seriously upsetting the page’s appearance.
