LONWORKS AND THE INTERNET
LonWorks control networks can be easily integrated with the Internet. This built-in capability allows for seamless networking between IP-based devices and control devices. Home appliances can be monitored and controlled remotely through standard Web browsers.
Echelon is working with Cisco to ensure the seamless integration of control and data networks. The i.LON 1000 Internet Server is the first product resulting from this partnership, providing level 3 routing between LonWorks networks and IP networks (i.e., the Internet). It also includes a Web server that can be used to provide visual feedback to remote users. Control parameters are served and embedded by the i.LON within the Web pages automatically.
