5Types of Image Sensors
Image sensors must have the following functions: (1) a sensor part that converts incident light to signal charges and stores them, (2) a scanning part that identifies the pixel address of each signal charge packet, (3) a part that measures the amount of signal charge and converts it to an electric signal, as discussed in Section 1.3. The choice of devices for these functional elements determines the type of image sensor. From the viewpoint of signal procedure, the order of (2) scanning part and (3) part measuring signal charge quantity may be swapped.
