Techniques for Measuring Learning
Learning has conventionally been measured both by tests and by the opinions of teachers. E-learning can build on these techniques.
Conventional training has used either final examinations to measure absolute-knowledge levels or a combination of pre- and posttests to measure improvements in the levels of knowledge. Conventional training also relies on independent, standardized certification, licensure, or accreditation tests. These include those administered by government licensing boards and industry organizations as well as those by specific companies, such as Microsoft, Cisco, and Novell, to measure knowledge of their particular technologies.
