Chapter 18. Structured Writing

In Chapter 9, EPPO Topics Conform to a Type, I said a topic type defines three things: the content, the order, and the form of a topic. That is what structured writing is all about: capturing, guiding, and validating the content, order, and form of a piece of content. The rules that describe the content, order, and form of topics can be written down in a content plan and audited and enforced by editors, or they can be encoded in data structures and validated by computer programs. Either way, the goal is to achieve greater consistency and reliability in how content is created and used.
