Chapter 8. Tools

The Tools menu provides several different tools for working with your workbook. If you have worked with other Microsoft Office products, many of these menu options will look familiar. For example, if you have ever used Microsoft Word you are probably very familiar with the Spelling option, which allows you to check the spelling for a worksheet within Excel.

The Customize option works great for customizing your menus and toolbars so that those features of Excel that you use frequently are readily available. You can also use Options to make additional selections about the functionality of Excel. For example, you can indicate whether you want the Formula Bar and Status Bar to display on the window.

Part of what makes the Microsoft Office products so powerful is the ability to easily share information with others. By using the Online Collaboration options you are able to view and discuss a workbook with others online using NetMeeting.
