Chapter 8. Case study
This case study is based upon some of the available equipment from our lab.
We installed what is technically termed a
one-node topology with IBM
TotalStorage Productivity Center on one server and IBM Tivoli Provisioning
Manager on another.
The switch was an IBM 2109 F16 type, and the storage was provided by an IBM
FastT700. The SAN, using IBM Tivoli SAN Manager, was split between two
zones. Storage was initially configured to allow 5GB of space to each of the two
application servers (on the FastT700). This was over and above what was
available to these servers as locally attached storage.
The objective of the case study was to provision storage to an application server.
We will run the workflow and assign a 5GB LUN to the application server, which
is running low on available/required space.
