Reporting feedback to the user is, as I am sure you already know, vital in Rich Internet Applications (RIA). We must always prepare for the worst when the application doesn't function as expected and in these situations feedback is important to stop the user getting frustrated when they later learn that their work or data couldn't be saved, for example.
