attractive manner. I’d also like to thank Derrick
Story, who did not work on this book directly,
but who offered moral support and advice on the
project.
I am not the only Sammon who worked on this
book. My dad, Robert M. Sammon, Sr., who,
among other things, taught me how to take pic-
tures with a Linhof 4x5-inch view camera, read all
my lessons and offered advice before I sent them
off to Audrey. My son, Marco, helped me with
some of the photographs. And my wife, Susan,
never complained when I announced that I was
taking off for places like Mongolia, Africa, Ant-
arctica, or Namibia to take pictures for this book.
Julieanne Kost, Adobe Evangelist, gets a big thank
you for inspiriting me to get into Photoshop in
1999. Addy Roff at Adobe also gets my thanks.
Addy has given me the opportunity to share my
Photoshop techniques at trade shows around the
country.
Some friends at Apple also helped me during the
production of this book by getting me up to speed
with Aperture 2, which speeds up my digital im-
aging workflow. So, more “thank you” notes go to
Don Henderson, Fritz Ogden, Kirk Paulsen, and
Ann Townsager.
Other friends in the digital imaging industry who
have helped in one way or another include Da-
vid Leveen of MacSimply and Rickspixelmagic.
