The hand-coloring technique is not only fun, it’s
also quite creative, helping you to create one-of-a-
kind images. Speaking of being creative, keep this
in mind: you don’t have to hand-color the entire
image, as is illustrated by this picture that I took of
my son, Marco, in a local music store. (I added the
“spotlight” in the top left of the picture using the
Lens Flare filter (FilterRenderLens Flare.)
When painting the skin, which can be tricky, cre-
ate a New Color Layer (now your third layer which
rests on top of the other two layers). On that layer,
paint the skin with the color you selected from
your source image. Now, in the Layers window,
click on Opacity and slowly reduce the opacity
until you are pleased with the color of the skin.
