Let’s Get Maintenance Organized!

Organizing your maintenance effort involves three major steps:

Step 1. Set up the property file system. Generally this system will be in a CMMS. These systems are available from hundreds of thousands of dollars down to simply hundreds of dollars. For organizations that have decided not to buy a CMMS, start with a manual data collection; then, automate when possible. For these smaller facilities, this process entails getting enough loose-leaf notebooks (or file folders) so that you have one complete set for each property.
