The Job of the Facilities Manager

As we saw in Chapter 1, the environment in which facilities managers work varies considerably depending on the nature of the facility and the contractual environment. Yet, there are a number of characteristics that are common across the board.

2.0 Qualifications

As you prepare to apply for jobs in facilities management, you should develop the skills summarized in Table 2.1. Other skills, summarized in Table 2.2, can be learned on the job, but the ones in Table 2.1 are skills you should already have when you apply.
