Contracting

Now that we’ve looked at the basic elements of contracts (Chapter 8), we can turn our attention to the process of contracting—defining the work to be done and then finding, selecting, and hiring contractors. In Facility Management, contracting is extremely important. Expertise with contractors is a major advantage for your long-term effectiveness.

If possible, become a member of at least one of these organizations: the local Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA), Association for Facilities Engineering (AFE), and International Facilities Management Association (IFMA).
