Buttons aren’t just decorations (although they can be pretty cute); they really make things happen in your interactive projects. Buttons can trigger animations, jump from page to page in a project, and create rollover effects. They can provide precise control over events, and they can provide visible hints to the reader to click here to make something happen.

Buttons in interactive documents are very much like real-life buttons: They’re intended to trigger an action that is already available, such as turning a device on or off.
