The FCC has set the year 2006 as the deadline for broadcasters to switch from standard definition television (SDTV) to digital TV (DTV) and high definition television (HDTV). Among the many advantages of this transition, transmission distance and repeaters (signal regenerators) do not affect the quality of digitized video.
