Anatomy Measurement Parameters

When we are talking about the length, width or height of any particular body part, it is essential that we know where it is that we’re measuring. If, for example, we were to say the “length of the foot,” most people would probably assume we mean the distance from the tip of the toes to the back of the heel. In other parts of the body, however, especially where the limbs join the trunk, these measurements are a little more difficult to gauge.

The illustrations on these pages are meant to clarify what is meant by each height, width or depth that is referred to in the rest of the book.
