Chapter 19. JDBC/ODBC and External SQL Connectivity
A FileMaker system can act as a data source for external access via Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) or Java Database Connectivity (JDBC). Likewise, using the external SQL sources (ESS) feature, FileMaker solutions can gain direct access to data in certain SQL-based database systems. FileMaker also supports the ability to import records from an ODBC data source and to execute SQL statements against remote data sources using the Execute SQL
script step.
