AppleScript is a scripting language built into the Mac OS X operating system and is configured and ready to run on Apple computers right out of the box. In addition to providing users with a macro-like ability to manipulate files and other aspects of the Mac OS X and the Finder, AppleScript also has the capability to automate and integrate applications that have been engineered to be “scriptable.”
