Chapter 14. Changing Formats

No software program is an island. In fact, FileMaker can import and export data in dozens of formats—including all your old files created with earlier versions of FileMaker. It’s easier than ever to work with Microsoft Excel and Adobe Acrobat PDF (Portable Document Format) files. Records created using FileMaker 7 use the very same format as FileMaker 8, but legacy files created with FileMaker versions 3–6 also can be converted without problems. This chapter also covers how to recover data if a FileMaker file should ever become damaged.
