Chapter 20 Organic Growth by Program Expansion

This chapter looks at program selection as part of that organic growth from within the organization, not external growth through mergers or acquisition (the next chapter). Put another way, once the area of growth is selected, what programs should be undertaken to achieve that growth? Hence, this chapter is about selecting and adding programs in a rational and orderly way using strategic planning to help do that.

We use the term strategic to connote that these choices have considerable rationality and order behind them even when they are opportunistic.
