7.1. Using Technology to Collect Data

The theme woven through each chapter of this book is how to do analysis fast. Technology can provide the speed we crave. What once was a resource-intensive process (think people and paper and snail mail) can now be accomplished for many, everywhere, quickly and online.

In addition to the repurposing of data discussed in earlier chapters, analysts have four major techniques at their disposal for collecting data: interviews, surveys, focus groups, and data mining. Let's look at each in light of how technology enables them.
