Whatever method(s) you use, be sure you do a complete analysis of the
polynomial to make sure you have correct results. You don’t want a surprise
when someone else produces different correct solutions than the ones you have
presented.
WHAT IF THE EXPONENTS ARE
NOT INTEGERS?
Suppose you have fractional exponents. This could happen if your inflows are
not at even periods from each other, or from the outflows. The resulting equa-
tion is not a polynomial, so the previous analysis does not hold. What can you
