As a pitcher I knew the importance of the other eight players on the field. If our defense did not make the plays or if our offense came up flat, no matter how good a job I did pitching that day, our chances of winning were slim. In the sport of baseball, teams win or lose, not individuals. It’s the same in this career; I’m only as good as the people around me. My personal goal is secondary to the team goals.
