Over many years, health claims have become a popular way to promote food and drink products and to communicate health messages to the public. The use of health claims has become widespread in many EU Member States, though remaining more restricted in others.

However, the use of health claims on food products and, additionally, in all commercial communications in the EU, has entered a new era.
