A perception exists that forensic accountants are one-dimensional: They only detect and investigate fraud. The truth is that forensic accountants are also involved in commercial disputes, calculating damages that can literally run into billions of dollars. This work is sometimes referred to as “litigation support.” In these situations, you provide accounting assistance in matters involving existing or pending litigation. A typical litigation support assignment results in calculating damages resulting from a breach of contract.
