It was with the above objectives that I solicited funds from the National
Science Foundation (NSF) to support the workshop. The NSF awarded me a
grant to be utilized to provide partial support for travel and subsistence for
participants, faculty, and students to attend the workshop and for preprints of
the workshop. The workshop, entitled Workshop on Foundations of Deductive
Databases and Logic Programming, was held August 18-22, 1986, in
Washington, DC. In addition, support for my time and efforts was provided
jointly by the University of Maryland Department of Computer Science and
Institute for Advanced Computing Studies (UMIACS) ...
