Semantics
In this section we introduce the class of perfect models of a disjunctive
database. The class of perfect models is a subclass of the class of minimal
models, enjoying many of its natural properties. We define the perfect model
semantics of a disjunctive database DB to be the semantics based on the class
PERF(DB) of perfect models of DB and we argue that this semantics correctly
describes the intended meaning of disjunctive databases, at the same time
generalizing the Principle of Minimal Model Semantics (Principle 2) for posi-
tive disjunctive databases.
