When implementing a virtual environment, the key to success is a solid implementation plan. Almost every server in your data center could be affected by the transition to a virtual environment, so this is an area where you want to be sure adequate planning takes place.
My strong recommendation is to craft a formal project plan and formalize the implementation process as much as possible because there are typically many new components introduced in to a virtualized environment.
