13.1 Feed Requirements
We have been studying at some length the parameters and
performance of transistors and valves, but of course these qualities
cannot be obtained unless the devices are fed with d.c. power
adjusted to achieve a suitable working point. What is suitable
depends on the kind of work they will be required to do, and for a
start we shall continue to assume low-frequency low-power
amplification. Modifications for other kinds of work will appear
when we come to them.
First of all let us deal with n-p-n transistors. The same information
