14.1 Generators
Having now a foundational knowledge of the few basic electrical
and electronic circuit elements, we can begin to look at their
applications. Elementary amplifiers have already appeared, and
frequent references have been made to signals. Generators of signals
have so far been represented by conventional symbols. The only sort
of a.c. generator actually shown (Fig. 6.2) is incapable of working at
the very high frequencies needed in radio and other systems, and
produces a square waveform which for many purposes is less
desirable than the sine shape (Fig. 5.2).
