frequency response and good phase response go together, and if the
frequency response is made level over the band occupied by the pulse
the phase response is likely to be satisfactory too. But the frequency
response should fall off gradually above the upper frequency limit.
A sharp cut-off above this limit will give an unsatisfactory phase
response.
