(3) Oscillators which cannot run continuously on their own but
which on being triggered from an external source will execute
one complete cycle and then wait until the next triggering
signal. This class is termed monostable.
(4) Oscillators similar to 3 except that when triggered they
execute only part of a cycle and need another signal to make
them complete it. These are called bistable. Although so
dependent on outside sources, they do at least determine the
duration and waveform of their part-cycles, and in this
important respect differ from waveform shapers.
