5.7. Simulation Tutorial

This tutorial demonstrates how to set up and run a simulation using ModelSim XE III 6.4b, included in Xilinx ISE WebPack™. After completing this tutorial, it will be easy to apply the same process to other VHDL designs and testbenches. The same basic concepts apply when performing simulation on other simulators.

Simulation Assumptions

• Preinstalled ModelSim XE III 6.4b.
• Design code filename Mode2n3.vhd is located at C:\Chapter 5 Simulation\Design Code.
• Testbench filename tb_mode2n3.vhd is located at C:\Chapter 5 Simulation\Testbenches.

Invoke ModelSim
